  2. Pumping Tips
    • Pump eight or more times in 24 hours
    • Label bottle with baby’s name, date and time you pumped
    • Combine milk from the left and right bottles if needed, never combine warm and cold milk
    • Fill bottles no more than ¾ full (milk expands when it is frozen)
    • Milk is good for four hours at room temperature and four days in the refrigerator
    • Frozen milk is good for 3-12 months depending on type of freezer
    • Thawed milk is good for 24 hours
    • Clean your pump parts after each pumping with soap and water in a separate basin and sterilize the parts once a day using the sterilization bag in the lactation room
