The excitement of international travel - the experience of new places, faces, languages, and cultures - comes with the recognition that travelers to other countries need to take certain health precautions. The Travel Medicine Program at The Occupational Health Center at Chester County Hospital will prepare you for experience. We strive to provide education and preventive measures to help reduce the health risks associated with international travel.
The health and safety of our clients is of utmost concern to us. Our team of health professionals is available to assess each traveler's individual needs, prescribe and administer immunizations and medications, and discuss precautionary measures for dietary and recreational activities.
Every client is educated on the current health risks and requirements for his or her particular travel destination. Sources such as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), International Society of Travel Medicine, and the World Health Organization (WHO) help us to stay abreast of the most current developments in Travel Medicine issues.
Travelers will receive an official immunization record to keep with travel documents, along with a customized health and travel information packet. Each packet will include the health risks and requirements for the specific countries on the itinerary, consular information, and general travel health advice. We recommend that travelers visit our Travel Medicine Program two to three months prior to their trip to allow adequate time to fully administer vaccines and begin prophylactic (preventive) medications, if required.
