Think back to earlier days when the sheriff would deputize every citizen in order to protect the town from danger. By participating in the Deputy Heart Attack Program, you will train to become a "deputy" to recognize early heart attack signs and symptoms and know how to provide Early Heart Attack Care (EHAC) to ultimately prevent a heart attack from happening.

What is Early Heart Attack Care (EHAC)?

Early Heart Attack Care (EHAC) promotes awareness for the early signs and symptoms of a heart attack. Did you know that heart attacks have "beginnings" that can occur weeks before the actual attack? These "beginnings" occur in more than 50% of patients. However, if recognized in time, these "beginnings" can be treated before the heart is damaged.

Chester County Hospital and the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care are promoting educational awareness of EHAC by focusing on early intervention to help prevent heart attack and cardiac arrest.

As a "Deputy" You Will:

  • Learn the early symptoms of a heart attack in order to help prevent heart attacks from occurring.
  • Be responsible, not only for yourself, but for others who may be experiencing early heart attack symptoms, and seek immediate treatment.
  • Know the benefits of receiving early treatment and activating the emergency medical system by calling 9-1-1.

How to Become a "Deputy":

  • Take the EHAC course to learn the early signs and symptoms of a heart attack.
  • Take the EHAC Pledge and commit to take action to help save lives.
  • Spread the word! Ask your friends, family and colleagues to also become deputies.
