Steven J. Weiss, MD, MBA
Chief, Cardiac Surgery, Chester County Hospital
Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery, Perelman School of Medicine

Dr. Steven Weiss has extensive experience in high-risk, off-pump and all-arterial conduit coronary bypass surgery. He has a special interest in valve repair and minimally invasive cardiac surgery. He is focused on patient safety science and improving the detection and delivery of care to cardiac valve disease patients.

Dr. Weiss has more than 25 years of clinical cardiac surgery experience most recently as director of cardiothoracic surgery at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania and his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Weiss completed a general surgery residency at Presbyterian Medical Center, cardiothoracic surgery residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and chief residency at the University of Maryland Health System. He went on to complete a fellowship at Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Weiss is board certified in thoracic and cardiac surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, American College of Cardiology and American College of Chest Physicians.

 

 

Christopher Aylsworth, PA-C
Chief Cardiovascular Surgery Physician Assistant

After serving as a combat medical specialist in the Gulf War, Mr. Aylsworth completed his Physician Assistant training at Stony Brook, State University of New York and later earned his MBA from Temple University’s Fox School of Business. Mr. Aylsworth has 20 years of clinical experience in cardiothoracic surgery. He was instrumental in helping establish Chester County Hospital’s heart and vascular program in 2001 and presently leads our team of cardiac surgery advanced practice providers. He is a member of the Association of Physician Assistants in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery and Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

Jennifer Dempsey, PA-C
Ms. Dempsey completed her undergraduate training in biological sciences at The College of New Jersey, and her Physician Assistant education at Philadelphia University in Philadelphia, PA. She specializes in minimally invasive harvesting of both saphenous vein and radial artery.

Jenny R. Dexter, PA-C
Ms. Dexter completed her Physician Assistant education at Philadelphia University in Philadelphia, PA. She has specialized for the past 13 years as a Physician Assistant in Cardiothoracic Surgery. She has experience in minimally invasive harvesting of both saphenous vein and radial artery.

  Abby Ferriola, RN, BSN, PCCN
Ms. Ferriola earned her bachelor of science in nursing from West Chester University in 2005 and has extensive experience in cardiac nursing in addition to caring for patients with heart failure. She has been with Chester County Hospital since 2003 and has held nursing roles in telemetry in addition to the Progressive Care Unit (PICU), and was instrumental in opening the 4 North Unit. Presently, she is the site nurse and navigator for The Heart Valve Center at Chester County Hospital.
 David Jones, CRNP - Chester County Hospital - Heart and Vascular David Jones, MSN, CRNP, ACNP-BC
Mr. Jones earned his bachelor of science in nursing from Wilkes University and completed a critical care internship from Hershey Medical Center in 1999. He completed his master of science in nursing from Thomas Jefferson University and became board certified as an acute care nurse practitioner in 2006. Mr. Jones has been with Penn Medicine since 2001 and has a special interest in catheter-based structural heart technology, advanced cardiovascular imaging, multi-disciplinary program operations and quality improvement. He is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American College of Cardiology, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American Association of Critical Care Nurses and Sigma Theta Tau.

Dr. Baldi attended medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a rotating internship at Kennedy Memorial Hospitals-University Medical Center, his Internal Medicine residency at Geisinger Medical Center and his Cardiology fellowship at The Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia.

Interventional Cardiology

Timothy Boyek, MD, FACC, FSCAI
Dr. Boyek completed his undergraduate training in Biology at Wilkes University as part of a six-year accelerated training program to receive his medical degree from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. A General Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology fellowship was completed at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He currently is board certified in Cardiovascular Diseases as well as Interventional Cardiology. He remains active in multiple clinical research trials at Chester County Hospital.

Recently, he has been instrumental in establishing a primary angioplasty program for the treatment of heart attacks (acute myocardial infarctions) at Chester County Hospital. This primary angioplasty program is the first of its type in Chester County. Dr. Boyek is the Medical Director of the Cardiac Diagnostic Interventional Catheterization Laboratories at Chester County Hospital and is a partner at Chester County Cardiology Associates. Dr. Boyek sees patients at their West Chester office.

Mian Jan, MD, FACC
Dr. Jan completed his fellowship at Temple University in Philadelphia. He has received numerous awards throughout his career. Richard C. Hui, MD, PhD, FACC
Dr. Hui is Medical Director of Electrophysiology Services at Chester County Hospital. He received a medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston after being awarded a PhD in bio-organic chemistry from M.I.T. He completed a fellowship in cardiology and internal medicine and a subspecialty fellowship in electrophysiology at John Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Khaji is a cardiac electrophysiologist on the medical staff at Chester County Hospital. He completed his undergraduate training at B. M. Patil Medical College in Bijapur, India. He received his postgraduate training in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland and received membership of Royal Colleges of Physicians London. He completed his internship, residency, and fellowship in cardiology, and an advanced fellowship in electrophysiology at Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. Kurt J. Schillinger, MD, PhD
Dr. Schillinger is Chief of the Arrhythmia Program at Chester County Hospital. He received a medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine where he also received a PhD in molecular biology. He completed his internship and residency in medicine at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). In addition, Dr. Schillinger completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease and a subspecialty fellowship in electrophysiology at HUP. Heart & Vascular Nurse Navigators

  Nicole DiFabrizio, BSN, MSN 
Ms. DiFabrizio started as a Registered Nurse at Chester County Hospital in 1999 starting in the PCU and over the years working in Telemetry, PINU, and cardiac surgery step-down units. Nikki furthered her education, earning her BSN from West Chester University in 2009 and her MSN from Grand Canyon University in 2015. She was awarded the H.L. Perry Pepper Leadership Award from Chester County Hospital in 2015 for her contributions to the hospital’s Magnet Award. Nikki joined the Nurse Navigator Team in 2019 and also helps with TAVR surgical planning.

Agnes Friedberg, RN, BSN, CCRN
Ms. Friedberg earned her bachelor of science in nursing from Temple University in 1999 and has been with Chester County Hospital since 2016. Her previous experience has given her an extensive background in critical care nursing in addition to caring for patients with heart failure. Presently, she is a heart and vascular nurse navigator where she educates patients and helps them coordinate services.

  Kristin Taylor, BSN, RN, PCCN, CV-BC
Ms. Taylor started as a Registered Nurse at Chester County Hospital in 1997 in the PCU/Telemetry Department.  She was awarded Employee of the Year in 2002.  The opportunity to be part of the opening of the new Post Interventional Unit (PINU) in 2003 was offered to her and she worked there until 2013.  She then transitioned to the Critical Care Support Dept. as a SAM nurse, remotely monitoring the heart rhythms of patients admitted to the hospital and her role also included being part of the rapid response team.  Her 24 years of cardiac clinical experience gives her the knowledge to educate patients and coordinate appropriate outpatient services.  Kristin was awarded H.L. Perry Pepper Leadership Award in 2018 and The Dianne Lanham UPHS Award for Leadership in 2019.
