Chester County Hospital's comprehensive Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is designed to help patients with cardiac medical conditions recover faster, become stronger, and return to an independent, productive lifestyle.
Our individualized services include supervised exercise training, nutritional counseling, stress management, and risk factor reduction. Whether you've experienced a heart attack, heart disease, open heart surgery or interventional treatment (including stents or balloon angioplasty), you can be sure that you will be taking part in a rehabilitation program designed to meet your specific condition and unique needs.
We are dedicated to ensuring the best outcomes for our patients. A thorough review of each patient's medical regime and lifestyle issues helps our team determine the best course of treatment for that individual. Some of the specific goals of our program include:
- Helping patients return to an active lifestyle
- Increasing patients energy for daily activities
- Easing the adjustment to new eating habits
- Reducing the amount of medication needed
- Minimizing risk factors and disease progression
- Preventing future cardiac or pulmonary problems
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program staff includes nurses, exercise physiologists and dietitians. This multi-disciplinary team of medical specialists combines modern exercise techniques and equipment with thorough counseling and education to instruct participants in safe cardiovascular conditioning for a lifetime of heart-healthy living. The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is offered at two convenient locations: The Fern Hill Medical Campus in West Chester, PA and The Medical Office at New Garden in Kennett Square, PA.
Upon graduation from our cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation programs, patients are encouraged to continue their exercise regime with supervision at a health and fitness center. Ongoing healthy lifestyle education is also available through Chester County Hospital's Community Health and Wellness Program which offers extensive education and information on a wide variety of topics including smoking cessation, weight management or diabetes prevention or management.
Cardiac rehabilitation is covered by most types of health insurance for a wide variety of heart conditions and procedures. For more information, speak with your doctor or your insurance company.
