The following is our policy regarding visitors accompanying a patient in the Emergency Department (ED).
- When capacity allows, one support person may accompany you in the waiting room.
- During periods of high patient volume, visitors may be requested to move from the ED waiting room to the main hospital lobby area to accommodate newly arriving patients.
- Security can help guide your visitor to the main lobby, which is a short elevator ride to the ground floor below the ED.
- One support person may be permitted to stay with a cognitively impaired patient or pediatric patient while in the waiting room.
- Your support person may join you once you are in a treatment space.
