Behavioral Health
At Chester County Hospital, the Emergency Department partners with our Behavioral Health Department. If you have behavioral health-related needs, the ED provider may ask that professionals from our Behavioral Health Team come and meet with you. Our Behavioral Health Team is comprised of Social Workers, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, and a Behavioral Health Counselor. Psychiatrists are also available via Tele-Health. Not every behavioral health need requires patients to meet with each type of professional. As necessary, the ED Treatment Team will request the appropriate consults.
Primary Care
If you are in need of a primary care provider for follow-up after discharge, please visit our Find a Chester County Hospital Provider online directory and search for Family Medicine/Primary Care.
Wound Care
If you are in need of immediate medical attention for an emergent problem wound, we encourage you to visit our Emergency Department. All non-emergent wounds are to be addressed at our wound care center: Penn Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at Fern Hill Medical Campus. For more information please visit Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine.
Case Management
To support the care of our patients, Case Management staff members are available to facilitate the care provided during your Emergency Department (ED) stay and identify potential options for your needs after discharge.
Pain Management
We adhere to the following guidelines regarding narcotic administration. Any exceptions to these guidelines are by physician discretion.
If a patient frequently visits the ED and seeks relief from nonobjective pain, they are considered to have chronic pain. For chronic pain, the ED does not prescribe or use Schedule II controlled substance, including:

- Methadone
In addition:
- Lost or stolen prescriptions for controlled substances will not be replaced.
