Chester County Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program - FAQs

How is the research project determined?
Pharmacy residents will be given a list of suggested topics created by the preceptors. Residents will choose from the selected list and/or have the opportunity for another project if the resident can find a suitable preceptor for the research.

Could I complete a rotation at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania?
Since they are within network, yes, this is a possibility. It would be a rotation that would not be available at Chester County Hospital – examples include Transplant and Neuro-Critical Care. 

What does my staffing responsibility look like?
Residents will be expected to staff every third weekend, one abbreviated weeknight shift every week and staff two holidays – one in the winter and one in the summer. Staffing components may be incorporated into rotations as well since the hospital's model is an integrated model of staffing and clinical.

What makes Chester County Hospital unique as a pharmacy residency program? 
Since Chester County Hospital is a part of the University of Pennsylvania Health System there are vast resources available to aid in residents learning. In addition to being part of a large health system, Chester County Hospital is known for its positive work environment and being close-knit. Chester County Hospital has the advantages of being a small hospital while still having advantages of relations with larger academic centers like The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. 

Will there be opportunities to learn between disciplines?
Chester County Hospital is the practice site for a nurse practitioner program, a physician’s assistant program, as well as nursing students. In addition to working with established practitioners, there will be multiple opportunities for pharmacy residents to interact with other disciplines who are also learning as well.
