Making Breast Surgery Easier For Women

For women requiring a lumpectomy or surgical biopsy, Chester County Hospital is proud to offer SAVI SCOUT® radar localization. This clinically proven, FDA-approved, wire-free approach targets tumors and breast lesions using a radar signature to detect a reflector, the size of a grain of rice, which is placed at the tumor site up to 30 days before surgery.

Previously, a lumpectomy involved wire localization--inserting a wire into the breast on the day of surgery. The wire sticks outside of the breast, which can cause discomfort, increased anxiety, and overall reduced satisfaction.

SAVI SCOUT completely eliminates these issues by providing a wire-free solution.

Improving the Surgical Experience

SAVI SCOUT works by placing a reflector into the tumor site in advance of your surgery. The reflector is completely passive until activated in the operating room. During the lumpectomy, the surgeon scans the breast using the console and hand piece, which emits infrared light and a radar signal to precisely and efficiently locate the reflector. This wire-free approach provides peace of mind, comfort and an overall better experience for patients requiring a lumpectomy.
