The Chester County Hospital is deeply saddened by the tragic passing of our colleague and friend, Dr. Rajeev (Raj) Shah.
Raj joined Chester County Hospital's (CCH) Medical Staff in 2017 as the Medical Director of CHOP Care Newborn and Pediatric Services at Chester County Hospital. In 2022, Raj was promoted to Medical Director of Pediatric Inpatient Programs for the CHOP Affiliate Network. Prior to his time at Chester County Hospital, Raj spent many years leading the pediatric hospitalist program at Capital Health in NJ. A graduate of Dartmouth College and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Raj completed his pediatric residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.
Known for his disarming laugh, his casual confidence, and his sardonic wit, Raj was an accomplished leader and a supportive colleague. Raj didn’t sweat the little stuff. He stayed calm, humble, and funny -- even during the most stressful times. He was fiercely loyal and proud of his team. He formed strong professional connections with his steady engagement while fostering lasting personal connections with his authenticity and presence.
Raj was direct and plain-spoken, firm but never stern. Raj was a quintessential pediatrician. He knew the names and ages of all his coworkers' children and regularly made time on busy shifts to rock a crying baby or play with a fearful toddler.
Raj is survived by his wife and two sons.
