Synapse Magazine Cover - Summer 2024Dear Friends,

Recently, I was sitting on the beach in Ocean City, NJ playing with my grandchildren. It gave me time to think about what I want to do personally and professionally at this stage of life. It was pure joy as I built sandcastles and ran out into the waves with the kids. I want to experience as much of that joy as possible, and I don't want to miss this phase of their lives.

With this in mind, I have stepped down as CEO of Chester County Hospital to focus solely on my role as CEO of our hospital's Foundation. In this capacity, I hope to fulfill one of my last professional goals: to complete our key fundraising campaign for the expanded Abramson Cancer Center, including an integrated breast center on our campus.

I am pleased to share that Karen L. Pinsky, MD, our hospital's Chief Medical Officer, has been named interim Chief Executive Officer. Karen has been with the hospital for 28 years, and her role has evolved considerably. A graduate of McGill University, Faculty of Medicine in Montreal, Canada, she served as the Medical Director of Newborn and Pediatric Services of the CHOP Care Network at Chester County Hospital. Before being appointed Chief Medical Officer in 2019, Karen served as the Chief Quality Officer.

I have every confidence in Karen. Her dedication, expertise, and deep understanding of our hospital and community make her the perfect fit for this role. I am certain that she will continue to lead our hospital with the same commitment to quality and excellence.

Working at Chester County Hospital and serving its community has been a lifetime privilege. It has been my honor to partner and collaborate with our employees, medical staff, administration and Board of Trustees on your behalf. Your support has been invaluable.

Warm regards,

Michael J. Duncan
President and CEO, Chester County Hospital
