In under a minute, your heart can pump blood to every cell in your body. Over the course of a day, about 100,000 heart beats shuttle 2,000 gallons of oxygen-rich blood many times through your body's 60,000 miles of branching blood vessels. That's a hefty job for a fist-sized muscle.
And don't forget your lungs. Everything we do is powered by our breathing. Our lungs fuel us with life-sustaining oxygen. On average we breathe in and out over 22,000 times per day! But if your lungs are impaired in any way, your ability to perform and quality of life can be severely impacted.
Your heart and lungs work hard for you every day, so it is up to you to take care of them so they can keep you well in the long run. Chester County Hospital can help you do this with a variety of programs, resources and screenings to help you achieve and maintain a healthy heart and lungs.
