Neck pain and back pain are among the most common reasons for doctor visits and are major causes of disability, lost work days, and high healthcare costs in Chester County, PA. Almost 50% of adults experience neck pain and 80% of adults experience back pain at some point in their lives. This pain can be located centrally at the spine, but can also be located in the arm or leg. The pain can run the spectrum of mild and annoying pain to severe and debilitating pain that can often interfere with work, recreational, or household activities and have a major impact on a person's quality of life.
Physical Therapy is one of the most common research-supported and effective methods of relieving neck pain or back pain and movement limitations. Early intervention by Physical Therapy has proven to shorten the duration of pain and movement problems. At Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA, our Spine Care team, including APTA Certified Orthopedic Specialists and Certified McKenzie Practitioners are highly trained to help you recover from your spine pain and dysfunction. And their services are available at locations across Chester County, PA.
Chester County Hospital's Physical Therapists and Spine Care Specialists will thoroughly examine you and develop a treatment plan to help address the reasons for your pain. Spine Care Treatment options may include, but are not limited to: modalities (ie: electrical stimulation), traction, manual therapy, flexibility training, strength training, and warm water aquatic therapy. In all cases, the Physical Therapist will provide you with the necessary education as it relates to posture, body mechanics, work conditioning or modification of activity. Often times, patients do not need to come for more than a few visits to obtain education and brief follow-up on good posture, body mechanics, and how to manage or control symptoms themselves. Our patients will receive treatment only as long as medically necessary and as permitted by their insurance provider.
