How you feed your baby is a personal choice. Early in your pregnancy, ask your healthcare provider for information on the benefits of breastfeeding. Even if you are not sure breastfeeding is right for you, think about trying it.
Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA encourages and supports breastfeeding as a health benefit for your newborn. Our Lactation Consultants are available on the Maternity Unit to provide breastfeeding assistance and education. The maternity nurses are also trained and available to assist as needed. Ongoing education regarding feeding patterns, proper latch-on and positioning, and pumping and storage of milk will be provided to you. Upon discharge from the hospital, you will be given a list of Community Resources for Breastfeeding to contact for breastfeeding assistance.
You are strongly encouraged to attend a Prenatal Breastfeeding Class available at Chester County Hospital.
