Gynecological Cancer is both physically and emotionally challenging. From those who are newly diagnosed to those who have already finished chemo, we all have something to offer one another and can learn from each other. This is not your typical support group; it is simply just a time to chat about whatever we want -- support, family, treatment or even the latest episode of Survivor. You need to make sense of all that is happening, but it is not always clear how to best do this. Some people feel very alone in the cancer experience. Others feel it is not possible to fully sort through things with the people who they care about the most. Often it is very helpful to go to a safe space, outside your circle of support, to explore all that is happening as you navigate your unique cancer journey.
This six-week support group is for people with a gynecological cancer in active treatment or surveillance and was created to provide a safe space where participants can connect, share, and learn from one another as they cope with cancer treatment, stress, relationships, and emotional turmoil. Together we will discuss a wide range of topics and will offer a consistent, safe, hopeful support system as you explore what your cancer journey means to you. Your facilitator will suggest some basic topics, but there will also be plenty of time to delve into anything that is on your mind in a given week.
"Most of us did not know much about gynecological cancer and the treatment process. To be able to connect with others going through similar experiences has been beneficial and supportive, because we understand what each other is going through. This is not your typical support group; it is simply just a time to chat about whatever we want support, family, treatment, side effects, or nothing about cancer at all! " - A Support Group Member
