Chris and Beth Knauer
Chester County, PA has been home to the Knauer family since the 1730’s. Generations of driven, forward-thinking Knauer men and women have helped to build the community through a blend of vocation, creative talent, and philanthropy. In highlighting a steadfast family value, Christopher J. Knauer explains, "the act of being charitable and contributing to the welfare of the community should be paramount in one’s life." Over time, the family’s collective impact on the community, through business and economic development, philanthropy, education, and the arts, has been transformational.
Through a deeply-rooted love of the local community, recent Knauer generations have supported Chester County Hospital with the passion and desire to improve the general health and well-being for others. Notable benefactor and former hospital Board of Directors member, the late David John Knauer II and his wife, Nancy Higgins Knauer, made the hospital one of their philanthropic priorities.
David’s son, current Chester County Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees member, Chris, and his wife Beth, are grateful for the care their family has received at Chester County Hospital. Their gratitude and familial commitment to the community inspires their support of the hospital: "We feel blessed to live in such a beautiful community and believe we have a responsibility to give back. As a family, we want to help support organizations and causes that will yield the greatest benefit to the community." It is fitting that the new Knauer Family Lobby will welcome generations of community members to Chester County Hospital. We are grateful to the Knauer Family and their transformative philanthropy and leadership, which has helped shape the hospital and the community it serves.
