Honoring Our History

If you have lived in Chester County long enough, it is likely you have walked through the halls of Chester County Hospital and seen the evidence of our deep, historic roots. The hospital’s earliest days in 1892 began as a humble building on a property across from Marshall Square Park. By 1925, a new facility was built down the road and we’ve grown at that location ever since. From marble tribute walls with bronze accents to the outlines of open porches to our rich mahogany hues, we can still trace the steps of the leaders and caregivers who preceded us. The hospital stands on a foundation built by forward-thinking physicians, innovative nurses, transformative philanthropists, inspirational leaders, dedicated volunteers, and many generous citizens. Our deeply rooted history, culture, and philanthropy have molded this hospital into the institution it is today. As our campus footprint changes with our largest expansion project to-date, we want to honor our roots and thank our supportive community.

In January 2020, when Chester County Hospital opens the doors to our new Pavilion, we will unveil two new wall installations that pay tribute to the power of community that has shaped our history and propelled us into the future. A history display, highlighting Chester County Hospital’s most notable advances in caring for the community for more than 125 years, will be located in the lobby near the new gift shop and café. A donor recognition display, illustrating the transformative power of our philanthropic community, will greet visitors on the right side as you enter through our new front door. Impactful gifts and donor stories will be featured on the wall, inspiring a new generation of compassionate and generous community members to support tomorrow’s advances in health care.

Chester County Hospital is very proud of our history and grateful to have served this community for generations. Your investment in the hospital provides essential resources for the very best in health care for your family, friends, and neighbors. Thank you for your support! Stay tuned for announcements regarding Grand-Opening events as January 2020 draws closer.
