Chester County Hospital has been accredited for cardiac catheterization and percutaneous coronary intervention by Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE), an organization dedicated to ensuring adherence to the highest quality standards for cardiovascular and endovascular care. ACE accreditation is a professional review of an organization's structure, internal processes, patient safety practices, and clinical outcomes to determine if it meets the standards established by experts in cardiac and endovascular care.
Chester County Hospital is one of 11 hospitals nationally and the only hospital in Southeastern Pennsylvania to receive this accreditation. "For over 20 years, we have strived to be the best by continually improving the quality and safety of the care we deliver to our community," notes Timothy Boyek, MD, Director, Interventional Cardiology. "We do this by utilizing national standards and analyzing patient outcome data to drive a process of ongoing improvement. Our team of Cardiologists, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners and Cardiovascular Technologists has used this outcome data to rapidly change our course of procedural processes and patient care."
"These accreditations are just another example of how Chester County Hospital has committed itself to providing leading-edge, top-quality care to our community," said Michael J. Duncan, President and CEO of Chester County Hospital. "This is a tribute to the hard work and efforts of the physicians and staff of our Interventional Cardiology team and our CardioVascular Center."
"The ACE seal of approval unequivocally documents our commitment to delivering safe, appropriate care for Interventional Cardiology patients that meets predetermined benchmarks for quality," adds Boyek.
"By seeking ACE cardiac catheterization accreditation, Chester County Hospital has shown that it has an uncompromising commitment to provide safe, high-quality care," said ACE Chief Medical Officer Bonnie Weiner, MD. "The willingness to be evaluated against nationally-accepted gold standard practices demonstrates a desire to meet the highest quality standards set by experts in cardiac and endovascular care."
ACE is committed to helping facilities that deliver interventional cardiovascular care to provide gold-standard health care by measuring the facility's practices, personnel, processes and outcomes against nationally-accepted, best-practice standards. Implemented to supplement existing quality-improvement programs, the ACE outcomes-based accreditation promotes uniform benchmarks, and improves appropriate utilization via an independent, third-party evaluation of facilities and practices.
The ACE evaluation process involves an in-depth independent review of personnel, quality-assurance processes, facility equipment, and outcomes information. All data collected is measured against nationally-accepted standards for the highest-quality cardiovascular care. Facilities who undergo this voluntary and rigorous process demonstrate an exceptional commitment to providing the best possible care to patients.
