Representatives from Medtronic awarded Matthew Kane, MD, Endocrinology, the "Center of Excellence Award" in April 2009. The award recognizes Dr. Kane and his staff for their excellence and "successful achievement of best practices with modern technologies in diabetes management."

In addition to the award, Dr. Kane and members of his staff received a congratulatory letter from Christopher O'Connell, Senior Vice President of Medtronic and President of Medtronic Diabetes. Only four such awards have been given in the Northeast Region.

Medtronic also presented Center of Excellence certificates to The Chester County Hospital's Diabetes Self-Management Program staff for their excellence and "successful achievement of best practices with modern technologies in diabetes management." Receiving the awards were Julie Funk, Michele Francis and Kathy Jones.

Mike Consalvi, Territory Manager for Medtronic, said this exclusive award is given to a select few physicians and education teams nationwide that recognize and practice "comprehensive utilization" of device therapies. To help people with diabetes better self-manage their health, Dr. Kane and the diabetes education team work cohesively and provide opportunities to learn about insulin pumps, continuous monitoring and data management.

The team approach and using every asset available as a resource distinguished Dr. Kane, his staff and the Diabetes Self-Management Program.
