Dr. Robert Liss, ophthalmologist at Chester County Eye Care Associates, has brought advanced surgical eye care to the community by being the first in Chester County to perform FDA-approved iStent Trabecular Micro-Bypass. Performed during cataract surgery on patients who have mild to moderate glaucoma, iStent is the world's tiniest medical device -- 20,000 times smaller than the intraocular lens used to replace your cataracts. Once implanted, iStent creates a permanent opening through the fluid buildup in the eye to improve the eye's outflow of fluid. By improving the fluid outflow, iStent can help lower the pressure within the eye. The iStent is so small, you won't be able to see or feel the device as it works to lower your eye pressure.
In addition, Dr. Liss educated his fellow peers at the American Academy of Ophthalmology's (AAO) annual meeting held November 2013. Ophthalmologists worldwide gathered to learn superior and innovative ways to achieve greater results in their surgical methods and to engage with the top leaders in their respective field. Always striving to advance cataract and glaucoma surgery and treatments, Dr. Liss taught three instructional hands-on lab sessions and a video presentation of challenging surgical cases.
