Catherine Plzak, MD, FACS, Breast Surgeon
Women's Specialty Center and the Breast Health Program at The Chester County Hospital
Dr. Plzak received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, completed an internship in general surgery at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, and completed her residency in general surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and has a particular interest in the genetics of breast cancer, male breast cancer and the use of neoadjuvant chemotherapy or the use of drugs to reduce the size of tumors prior to surgery. She has worked with Medecins sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Borders in Liberia and is passionate about providing medical care to all underserved populations.
Pamela P. Scott, MD, FACS, Breast Surgeon
Medical Director, Women's Specialty Center and the Breast Health Program at The Chester County Hospital
Dr. Scott graduated from Mount Holyoke College and the Medical College of Pennsylvania. After completing her surgical residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, she joined their staff as the Director of Trauma Service and the Surgical Intensive Care Unit before moving to West Chester where she became a member of the medical staff of The Chester County Hospital.
She has been an active member of the medical community for 25 years. Currently she serves on the Hospital's executive committee and is the Secretary-Treasurer of the Medical Staff. She is a member of the Breast Task Force and is the cancer liaison physician for the hospital to the American College of Surgeons. Formerly she was chief of the General Surgery section and a member of the credentials committee.
Dr. Scott is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a charter member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
The provision of comprehensive breast care has been a professional passion of Dr. Scott's since joining The Chester County Hospital Medical Staff in 1984. Under her care, women will have access to the diagnosis and treatment and follow up of breast conditions in a personalized setting. The Women's Specialty Center was conceived, designed and developed by women for women. At the Center they will be provided with timely scheduling, consultation, diagnosis, and surgery, if needed. Her goals are to continue to promote breast health and to improve the support and services for women at high risk for breast cancer.
